Defeated by the cavalry of Resquín

The Argentine cavalry mixed line regiments in French-style uniforms with militias from Corrientes and Entre Ríos, who fought on their own horses and in their own clothes for lack of uniforms. At Tuyutí, Resquín's Paraguayan cavalry defeated the Argentine cavalry of Generals Cáceres and Hornos.

◊ Reconstruction. The look of the militias comes from gaucho iconography: the sources only speak of “private clothing”. A report from 1865 says that Cáceres's troops had no ponchos.
