- Bronze
- Calibers in Brazil
- 4-, 6- and 12-pounders

It was the first rifled field gun adopted in series. It fired ogival projectiles with studs that followed the rifling, with far more range and accuracy than round shot. At Tuyutí, Emílio Mallet's batteries, protected by a ditch, stopped the Paraguayan columns with canister; for their rate of fire they were called the “revolver artillery”.
‡ Disputed. How many pieces Mallet had at Tuyutí: one source speaks of thirty La Hittes; other figures do not distinguish the model.
