Francisco Solano López

The marshal who ordered the attack at Tuyutí.

President of Paraguay from 1862 and commander of its army throughout the war. He planned the attack at Tuyutí from his headquarters at Paso Pucú. He died at Cerro Corá on 1 March 1870.
